Embracing More Self-Love

Self-love. It's a buzzword that's been thrown around a lot lately, and for good reason. When we take the time to love ourselves, we become happier, healthier, and more confident. But let's be real, sometimes self-love can feel like just another thing on our never-ending to-do list. So, in the spirit of helping you love on yourself, I'm here to give you some tips on how to increase your self-love in a fun and playful way.

First things first, let's talk about affirmations. Now, I know some of you may be thinking, "Girl, I ain't got time for all that positive self-talk." But trust me, affirmations can be a lot of fun if you approach them with the right attitude. Instead of repeating serious affirmations, try coming up with affirmations that make you smile. For example, "I am strong and capable. " or "I choose to love and accept myself, flaws and all." Repeat these affirmations to yourself in the morning, throughout the day when you need a push, or before you go to bed. If you’re feeling extra crafty, keep handwritten affirmations next to a mirror. Look at yourself while you say them and once you feel like they’ve served their purpose, refresh, and collect a new set of affirmations.

Next up, we've got self-care. Self-care can be a lot of fun if you approach it with the right attitude. Instead of taking a relaxing bath, try taking a bubble bath with all your favorite bath bombs and candles. Not only will you be taking care of your body, but you'll also be surrounded by a sea of bubbles and gorgeous scents. Hit the gym, take care of your skin, get enough sleep, say yes to solo adventures and talk through the tough stuff in traditional therapy. Become the best version of yourself so that you can tackle whatever comes your way.

When it comes to self-love, it's important to take the time to celebrate your accomplishments. Instead of just making a mental note of what you've accomplished, try celebrating by treating yourself to your favorite restaurant or invite your friends along for a night out to celebrate your win. Just make sure you’re surrounding yourself with people who don’t shy away from rooting for you. You deserve all the love…You've earned it, girl!

Finally, let's talk about self-love for the mind. Try writing a love letter to yourself. Talk about all the amazing things you've accomplished and all the amazing things you’re looking forward to. Not only will you be giving yourself a well-deserved pat on the back, but you'll also be reminding yourself of just how awesome you are. If you love journaling, it’s the great opportunity for you to be real and stop lying to yourself about your needs and explore possible patterns that show up.

In conclusion, self-love doesn't have to be a chore. It's all about finding ways to make it fun and enjoyable. So go ahead, write a love letter to yourself, celebrate your accomplishments, light the candles, book a solo date and repeat your affirmations. Trust me, your mind, body, and soul will thank you. And remember, always approach self-love with a sense of humor and joy – because at the end of the day, that's what it's all about.
